{Miss Nemukumbini and Miss Xaba}
Thank you to Fakkel's own sheroes, Miss Nemukumbini and Miss Xaba. To everyone, please keep safe and attentive; we will never forget the bravery of these women (girl power)
"Brave rescue, Kidnappers try the wrong school, They did not bargain clashing with the ferocious females."
The learners are close to me, and since it was raining, I wanted to give them a lift. However, I couldn't get in touch with them on their phones, and then one of the learners called to say, "They took her." I immediately reacted because I knew that kidnapping was one of the biggest problems in South Africa, so I went to the location where she was supposed to be, and when I got there, I discovered the learner crying, I was eager to get every information as soon as possible because it seemed like it happened in an instant when they said they had taken her. One of the students was able to tell me where they took her, without which we wouldn't have been able to find her. The car was still in the area, so I had to pursue it. However, Ma'am Xaba was with me, so we followed the car and discovered that it was being driven by an armed man. We had to do it; we jumped in the car and saved her because they were heavily armed and it was either go all in or go home.
No, I wasn't terrified at the time because I didn't realize they had firearms, so I simply wanted to get out; it was all about motherhood and not being a teacher, so no, I wasn't scared at the time, but panic gripped me later. I couldn't even call the police, At that moment there was a lot going on and they were with security guys, we couldn't really do much because, but we did launch a case of kidnapping and robbery against them, and the culprit was apprehended.
I'd like to emphasize to the females in particular that they must exercise extreme caution when out and about, especially after school when waiting for transportation. You must wait for the bus inside the school grounds, but only if you are at a location where you can see your bus approaching. For those who walk, I suggest you always look about, be vigilant, and refrain from accepting rides from strangers.

{Mr. Erasmus}
With heavy hearts, Hoërskool Die Fakkel has to say goodbye to one of its beloved teachers Mr. Erasmus.
I am upset that I'm leaving Die Fakkel, my emotions are running high. I'm glad I've reached the end, but I'm sad that I have to leave the school at this point and time.
I enjoyed teaching at the school because I enjoy working with children and I did this mostly for the children, when I came here in the 90’s it was because they could not find a teacher to teach these children the subject of mechanical technology and they phoned me and asked me to come. It was supposed to be temporary and 28 years later here I still am.

Yes I am proud of the fact that i changed people’s lives and I think that I have made such a big impact and a big difference in their lives, The biggest thing that you can ever do, that a lot of wise men have said is, you can also read it in the bible, is that giving is greater than receiving that is where you get your joy.

I am happy to be employed at Die Fakkel. It was one of the best schools in the country, not just in Gauteng but in the whole of South Africa, and like my mother said if you can’t say good things it’s better to keep quiet but Fakkel is not as good as it was.

I will miss the children I’m getting a bit too old for all this other nonsense that goes with teaching but I will definitely miss the children they are like my children like I have said before I don’t have any children you guys are like my children.

Mr. Radebe (Principal)
I teach 12th-grade math, 12th-grade physics, and 12th-grade isiZulu.
I chose to become a teacher because I am very passionate about education and educating people because knowledge is essential for making certain decisions.

I became a teacher because I love to watch people's minds develop, especially young people who start to get better at reasoning. Yes, discipline is key, and that's where I excel. Despite the negative image this school has, the staff's dedication and tenacity have enabled us to achieve great success.
I wish someone had encouraged me when I was younger to be persistent in all I do because I might have goals that I later decide to give up because of circumstances
I teach Social science (grade 8) Geography (grade 10) Life orientation (grade 10).
I decided to become a teacher because I enjoy working with kids.
Given that I have degrees in geography and environmental management, teaching was not my first professional choice. I then completed PGCE.
I enjoy teaching because it allows me to share my knowledge with others. Not only for the subject but for life and life lessons in general.
"Make every day and every moment count" is one thing I wish someone had told me when I was younger.
